Romsey based asbestos remediation specialist Merryhill Envirotec has secured a significant six figure contract to remove asbestos from Broadlands House, the historic home of the late Earl Mountbatten of Burma, just outside of Romsey in Hampshire. Works have commenced are expected to run until the end of June.
The contract is a vital element of the major two year Broadlands House refurbishment project, which will see the great mid-Georgian era house undergo major remedial works including new mechanical and electrical systems. Asbestos will be removed from various sections of the house in stages, using specialist staff trained to work in high hazard environments. Merryhill secured the contract against stiff opposition from large national asbestos removal companies during a 6 month tender period including a rigorous interview process before Christmas.
Paul Fox, Director of Business Development for Merryhill Envirotec, comments, “Merryhill are very proud to have been awarded this most prestigious of contracts for Broadlands House. We designed a unique bespoke modular methodology for this project, and impressed the panel not only with our approach to design, but with our sustainable solution utilising local labour and bringing a significant boost to the local economy.”
He continues, “Broadlands is part of our local community, and our staff are particularly pleased to be able to play a large part in delivering a first class remediation solution to Lord Brabourne and his family.”
Merryhill Envirotec provides asbestos removal and surveys nationally, to a wide range of clients including the Ministry of Defence, HM Prison Service and the Olympic Delivery Authority.
