Health and Safety Addition to the Team at GBR Phoenix
Posted By Editor on January 14, 2011
In the same week that the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) revealed almost 2,500 workplace injuries were incurred in the West Midlands in 2009/2010, GBR Phoenix Beard has announced its latest new recruit. Patricia Dennis joins GBR Phoenix Beard’s specialist Health and Safety team from Rentokil Initial Plc, working with Nattasha Freeman who is a past President of the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH) and head of the firm’s Health and Safety team.
Patricia is a fully qualified IOSH practitioner and has several years’ experience of working in the Health and Safety arena. She doesn’t foresee any immediate let-up in employers’ Health and Safety responsibilities, and speaking about her new role said:
“This is an exciting time to be joining GBR Phoenix Beard and I look forward to working with the firm’s clients to make sure they are fulfilling their legal obligations in relation to Health and Safety. The HSE’s figures for 2010 show a slight decrease in the number of workplace injuries compared to the previous year, but there is no cause for complacency. Health and safety has received a lot of bad press in recent years, but straightforward health and safety provisions don’t need to be unduly onerous and should contribute to the bottom line – simple measures can ensure that workers are not off work through injury or avoidable ill health thereby minimising disruption to business operations. We place great emphasis on recommending practical health and safety arrangements which protect our clients’ stakeholders, at the same time allowing them to get on with running their core businesses.
Simon Farrant, Managing Director of GBR Phoenix Beard, said:
“We are delighted to have Patricia on board. Her appointment is the latest in a number of new recruits which are in line with the 3 year business plan we launched to our staff at the end of 2010. Since the autumn of 2010 we have increased our staff numbers by around 10% and are feeling optimistic for prospects in 2011.”
In addition to Trisha Dennis, Steve Halfpenny and Richard Crow joined the Building Consultancy division in January 2011.
