Posted By Editor on April 21, 2011

EBI Consulting, a leading provider of environmental consulting services, today announced that John H. Hovsepian has been appointed to the position of vice president of Environmental Health and Safety Services. Hovsepian has more than 28 years of experience in environmental, safety, health and sustainability (“EHS&S”), environmental due diligence, corporate compliance programs and environmental/process engineering.

Hovsepian, who joined EBI in 1996, was most recently a senior program director managing the Environmental Health and Safety Group. At EBI he has successfully directed a wide variety of client projects including:

* Corporate compliance programs and sustainability strategies;
* Pollution/waste reduction and recycling;
* Industrial accident prevention and process safety programs;
* Multimedia environmental audits;
* Permitting with a focus on operational flexibility;
* Strategic Planning and Policy Development;
* EHS&S management systems (including ISO 14001 and GRI Reporting);
* Training program development;
* Design and implementation of remediation systems;
* Regulatory negotiations; and other related services.

In his new role, Hovsepian will direct all of EBI’s environmental health and safety service operations, leveraging his extensive expertise in strategic EHS&S planning and policy development, design and implementation of effective systems and programs, resolution of complex risk-intensive issues and regulatory compliance assurance.

“John Hovsepian is universally respected for his leadership and expertise by our clients and by the EBI team,” said John P. Lawton, executive vice president of Sales, Marketing and Operations at EBI. “He’s the ideal choice to lead the growth of our Environmental Health and Safety business, and build upon our strong track record of delivering value to clients in the biotechnology, healthcare, education and manufacturing markets.”

In addition to his EBI experience, Hovsepian brings a deep client perspective to his role. Prior to EBI, he spent seven years at Quebecor World (USA), Inc. as vice president, director of Environmental Affairs and nine years at World Color, Inc. as vice president and director of Health, Environment and Safety. In these capacities, Hovsepian was responsible for environmental compliance, worker’s health and safety and served as the corporate risk manager. He started his career as a consultant specializing in air pollution management.

Hovsepian is a member of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers, the Air and Waste Management Association and the American Chemical Society. He holds an Engineer-in-Training Certification from the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and is a magna cum laude graduate of Northeastern University with a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering.

“The face of environmental health and safety is rapidly changing as traditional initiatives must dovetail with sustainable business strategies driven from the top down. Moreover, organizations are being required to think beyond compliance and strategize on a global level,” said Hovsepian. “EBI is uniquely qualified to help organizations develop an integrated, business-driven environmental, health, safety and intelligent sustainability approach.”
